BRINGING HAPPINESS TO CHILDREN

Through the power of play, learning, and new opportunities

Home: Welcome

BECAUSE ALL CHILDREN DESERVE JOY

A little bit about us

At the NECF, we've seen firsthand how children’s happiness is enhanced with every new opportunity, whether it is the chance to learn more or to spend time playing and discovering. Since our founding in 2010, we've helped thousands of marginalized children in Kenya gain access to safe play or new learning opportunities through projects that promote happiness.

LIGHTS FOR LEARNING

Lighting a path for education

The Lights for Learning program provides solar lamps to children living in regions without electricity, enabling them to study past dark with safe lighting, in order to achieve greater academic success.

NANCY'S PLAYGROUNDS

All children must play

The Nancy’s Playground program builds playgrounds in Kenya for children who lack access to formalized play structures (including in women’s prisons), so they can benefit from healthy child development, build essential life skills and experience the joy of play.

NANCY'S GARDENS

An essential part of healthy living

Nancy’s gardens program helps children & families who face affordability barriers, gain greater access to food by teaching children how to establish kitchen gardens and grow their own organic produce.

THINK YOU KNOW KENYA?

Find out with the Kenya Trivia Book

This publication was a key text used by individuals training to be guides in the national museum, as well as safari guides. In 1986, Nancy Ellen co-authored the 'Kenya Trivia'  booklet about Kenya’s ecology, geography, and culture. Forty-two thousand copies were published and sold.

All proceeds from the sale of the Kenya Trivia books directly support our programs.
